Community Events
We'll host gatherings that build real relationships — volunteer mixers, family events, and celebrations that create a sense of belonging for families who often feel isolated from ordinary community life.
Practical help, genuine community, and resources designed for the real challenges foster and adoptive families face. Here's what we're building toward.

Founding phase: Becoming Kin is in its founding phase. The services described below represent our model — what we're actively building toward a 2026 launch.
Social workers and case managers will share what foster and adoptive families need most. Becoming Kin will take that information and coordinate volunteers — real people in the community — to meet those specific needs. Donors will fund the goods and services that volunteers deliver.
Every referral will be reviewed personally by Hogan Wagner before a project is activated. This isn't a platform that automates family support — it's a human network with real accountability at every step.
Built around relationships, not transactions.
We'll host gatherings that build real relationships — volunteer mixers, family events, and celebrations that create a sense of belonging for families who often feel isolated from ordinary community life.
We'll curate a practical library of information for foster and adoptive families: navigating the system, understanding trauma, accessing services, and finding community.
We'll pair experienced foster and adoptive families with families who are newer to the journey — structured, supported, and entirely voluntary.
Volunteers will show up with meals, supplies, and presence. Not as charity workers — as neighbors. Every act of support is coordinated to meet a specific, real need.
These tools and systems are actively in development as part of our founding infrastructure.
A simple online system for volunteers to browse and claim projects — with clear descriptions, time estimates, and everything they need to show up well.
Target: Summer 2026
A structured intake process for social workers to submit family needs — reviewed personally by our team before any project is activated.
Target: Summer 2026
A public page recognizing the businesses that fund our first year of operations — celebrating the community that made Becoming Kin possible.
Target: Fall 2026
The founding phase is where the work begins. Volunteers, social workers, and donor businesses are all welcome.
