Terms of Use

Terms for using becomingkin.org and participating through the Kin Network.

Who We Are

Becoming Kin is a founding-phase nonprofit supporting foster and adoptive families in Southern California through community, connection, and care.

Accounts & Eligibility

You must provide accurate information and protect access to your email, Google, or Apple account. Independent member profiles are for adults age 18 or older. You may not impersonate another person, share an account, or attempt to bypass access controls.

Community Conduct

Use the network only for legitimate Becoming Kin activities. Do not contact families outside the coordinator-led plan, publish private information, scrape profiles, harass anyone, or use opportunity information for solicitation, surveillance, or commercial purposes.

No Warranty

Information is provided for general purposes and may change as programs launch. Becoming Kin is not a crisis service and does not replace legal, medical, social-work, or emergency services.

Volunteer Participation

Creating a profile or expressing interest does not create an assignment, employment relationship, clearance, or guarantee of participation. Projects may have separate orientation, training, screening, insurance, supervision, and participation requirements. A coordinator must confirm each assignment.

Screening & Safety

Screening status is only one part of a role decision. Becoming Kin may restrict, pause, or end participation to protect children, families, volunteers, partners, or the organization. The Kin Network is not an emergency, legal, medical, or crisis service.

Opportunity Sharing

You may share public, privacy-safe opportunity links. Do not add family names, exact addresses, case details, or other confidential information when sharing. Public links do not grant access to a family, location, roster, or assignment.

Donations

Donation terms, receipts, project designations, and tax treatment will be confirmed through the giving process available at the time of the gift.

Account Suspension & Changes

We may suspend or close accounts that violate these terms, create safety concerns, or threaten the service. We may update the network and these terms as programs develop; material changes will be posted with a new effective date.

Third-Party Services & Contact

Google, Apple, email providers, payment tools, and external links are governed by their own terms. Questions can be sent to hogan@becomingkin.org.
